Geosyntec

Licensed Site Remediation Professional Services in New Jersey

Geosyntec's Licensed Site Remediation Professionals (LSRPs) support key stakeholders across New Jersey by successfully managing a wide range of day-to-day projects leading to the proper and timely remediation and closure of environmentally impacted sites.

Geosyntec is strongly positioned to provide experienced LSRPs who can apply professional judgment within the bounds of the regulations and guidance while making progress towards the ultimate goal of cost-effective site closure aligned with New Jersey's new approach to the remediation of multiple environmental challenges.

Responsible Oversight. Qualified Professionals. Timely Solutions.

Geosyntec practitioners possess the environmental technology and a depth of expertise to conceptualize and implement a wide range of environmental investigations and cleanups across New Jersey, especially as outlined by new compliance regulations found in the state's Site Remediation Reform Act of 2009 (SRRA). This includes preliminary assessments and site investigations; remedial investigation, remedial selection and remedial action; and site closure that meets New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Site Remediation Program guidance and regulations.

Geosyntec's LSRPs have an obligation to protect public health and safety and the environment, as well as the authority to review and approve investigation and remediation work plans; develop closure documents; and exercise professional judgment to efficiently move sites through the assessment and remediation process to closure.

Our LSRPs have spent a significant portion of their careers overseeing the successful completion of site investigation and remediation projects throughout New Jersey. These projects include assisting clients with the requirements of the NJDEP Industrial Site Restoration Act (ISRA) regulations to allow the transfer of properties and businesses. They also include complex soil and groundwater remediation projects formerly being executed under Administrative Consent Orders (ACO) and other oversight mechanisms.

Contact Geosyntec today to learn more about how our team of LSRPs draw upon their previous experience within New Jersey and our successful application of innovative approaches and technologies to achieve our clients’ goals.

In May 2009, the State of New Jersey enacted the Site Remediation Reform Act (SRRA) to move the direct supervision of site remediation projects from NJDEP Case Managers to LSRPs. These independent professionals are responsible for conducting such work with the objective of expediting site closure. LSRPs have an obligation to protect public health and safety and the environment, as well as the authority to review and approve investigation and remediation work plans, develop closure documents, and exercise professional judgment to efficiently move sites through the assessment and remediation process to closure. After a three year implementation period, the SRRA takes full effect on 7 May 2012.

The Role of the New Jersey LSRP

The role of the LSRP is apart and separate from the day-to-day management of investigation and remediation activities at a site. The responsibilities of the NJ LSRP include:

  • The development of a fundamental understanding of all environmental issues at a site from historical records;
  • The review and certification of all work plans and reports, insuring that the work is done in compliance with appropriate regulations;
  • Interaction with the NJDEP when necessary to clarify regulatory intent and requirements;
  • And the development of an open and collegial relationship focused on efficiently serving the needs of the client.
